# IBAN Generator Wiki IBAN Generator Wiki is a free browser-based utility site for developers, quality-assurance teams, technical writers, trainers, and students who need synthetic International Bank Account Number data. Its primary purpose is format testing. It is not a banking service, payment service, account-opening service, beneficiary-verification system, or ownership lookup. ## How to find an IBAN number The [How to Find an IBAN Number guide](https://ibangenerator.wiki/how-to-find-iban-number/) covers the reliable places to retrieve your own IBAN: a recent bank statement, authenticated online banking, the bank's mobile app, or a verified bank support channel. It explains the difference between an IBAN, a local account number, and a SWIFT/BIC code; how to compare the country format and copy the value safely; and why a format checker cannot prove account ownership, account existence, or payment reachability. The guide is informational and does not attempt to discover a person's IBAN from a name, card number, or partial account number. ## IBAN examples and country formats The [IBAN Examples guide](https://ibangenerator.wiki/iban-example/) uses deliberately synthetic German, UK, French, and Dutch values to explain the shared country-code and international-check-digit opening, the country-specific BBAN, fixed lengths, and print-versus-electronic spacing. The examples are for documentation, QA, training, and form testing only. A matching length or MOD-97 result does not prove that a bank issued the value, that an account exists, that a person owns it, or that a payment can reach it. Use a bank-issued IBAN for any real transfer. ## IBAN versus SWIFT/BIC The [IBAN vs SWIFT/BIC guide](https://ibangenerator.wiki/iban-vs-swift/) explains the account-versus-institution distinction. An IBAN identifies a particular account under a country's registered format, while a SWIFT/BIC code identifies a bank or financial institution used in payment routing. A transfer may require one identifier or both depending on the banks, country, currency, and payment rail. Neither code should be invented, substituted for the other, or treated as proof of account ownership, account status, or payment reachability. ## Test IBAN data for QA The [Test IBAN Data Guide](https://ibangenerator.wiki/iban-test-data/) explains how to use synthetic IBANs for payment-form tests, parsers, fixtures, browser flows, demonstrations, and technical documentation. It separates country format, fixed length, broad BBAN character rules, and the MOD-97 checksum from facts that require a bank or payment provider, such as account assignment, ownership, account status, sanctions checks, and payment reachability. Keep every fixture labeled and isolated from production seeds, beneficiary lists, invoices, direct-debit files, and real payment flows. The [What Is an IBAN Number? guide](https://ibangenerator.wiki/what-is-iban-number/) answers the definition question before sending readers to a tool. It explains that an IBAN is an account-level international identifier made from a country code, international check digits, and a country-specific BBAN. It separates format, length, and MOD-97 checks from account existence, ownership, and payment reachability, then links to the finding guide, checker, decoder, country directory, examples, and SWIFT/BIC comparison. ## What the generator does The main IBAN Generator lets a user choose a supported country, select a quantity, and create synthetic IBAN strings in print or electronic format. The browser constructs a random Basic Bank Account Number according to the selected country's fixed length and broad numeric, alphabetic, or alphanumeric character pattern. It then calculates the two international check digits and rechecks the completed string with MOD-97 before showing it. Random characters are generated with the browser cryptography interface. The generator includes zero wherever a numeric field permits zero, does not draw from a prewritten account-number list, and does not submit generated values to an application endpoint. Small batches can be copied or exported as CSV and JSON. The separate Bulk IBAN Generator supports up to 100 values per action. ## What “valid” means here On this site, a valid generated or checked IBAN means only that the string passes the checks the browser can perform from the characters themselves: a supported two-letter country code, the registered fixed total length, the stored broad BBAN character classes, and a MOD-97 remainder of 1. Print spacing is removed before validation and lowercase letters are normalized. A successful result does not prove that a bank issued the number. It does not prove that the bank or branch identifier is assigned or active, that an account exists, that a named person owns it, that the account supports a currency or payment method, or that a transfer or direct debit will succeed. National bank-directory checks, domestic account rules, ownership confirmation, sanctions screening, recipient verification, and account-status checks are outside the scope of these free tools. There is no universal reserved IBAN range guaranteed never to overlap with an issued account. Generated results must therefore stay in isolated development, QA, staging, demo, documentation, training, and classroom environments. Never initiate a payment to a generated value, add it as a real beneficiary, use it as proof of account ownership, or present it as genuine financial information. ## IBAN Checker The IBAN Checker accepts print or electronic input and explains whether the country is supported, whether the length and broad character pattern match, and whether the MOD-97 checksum passes. It runs in browser JavaScript. The checker is useful for form behavior, input normalization, error-message testing, and mathematical validation. It is not a substitute for a bank-connected production verification service. ## IBAN Calculator The IBAN Calculator accepts a complete country-formatted Basic Bank Account Number and calculates the two international MOD-97 check digits. It checks the stored BBAN length and broad letter-or-digit pattern, then returns print and electronic IBAN formats. It does not query a live bank directory or confirm bank assignment, account existence, ownership, recipient identity, or payment reachability. Users must obtain every required BBAN field from a bank-issued or otherwise authoritative source. ## IBAN Decoder The IBAN Decoder identifies the first two country letters, the next two international check digits, and the remaining BBAN. For reviewed popular formats it also labels visible national ranges, such as Germany's bank code and account field, the United Kingdom's bank identifier, sort code, and account field, or France's bank, branch, account, and national-key fields. For other formats it uses a generic BBAN label rather than inventing unsupported field meanings. It cannot find an account holder or balance. ## Countries and format coverage The Countries directory compares the browser tool's supported codes and fixed lengths and links to country-focused landing pages. The first English release includes dedicated generators for Germany, Turkey, the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Croatia, Belgium, and Portugal. Additional registered formats remain selectable from the main tool. The high-level format model follows ISO 13616 and the registry published by Swift in its role as registration authority. Registry formats can change, so a production payment system should rely on a current authoritative source and appropriate bank-data services. Countries that do not participate in IBAN, such as the United States and Japan, are not assigned invented IBAN formats. ## Recommended uses Appropriate uses include testing payment and onboarding form masks, maximum lengths, country switching, normalization, checksum error handling, API contracts, parsers, database column sizes, imports, exports, list views, duplicate handling, documentation examples, automated browser flows, demonstrations, and classroom explanations. Prefer synthetic data over copying customer banking information into a test environment. Inappropriate uses include real transfers, direct-debit instructions, beneficiary creation, identity or ownership claims, account verification, financial deception, or any workflow that treats the generated value as bank-issued. Users remain responsible for keeping fixtures clearly labeled and separated from production data. ## Privacy and processing Generation, normalization, decoding, and checksum validation occur in the browser. These tool actions do not send the entered or generated IBAN to an application endpoint. Normal hosting, security, analytics, advertising, and consent systems may still process technical data such as IP addresses, browser identifiers, cookies, or usage events as described in the Privacy Policy. Users should avoid entering personal financial data unless they have authority to process it and understand the applicable privacy controls. ## Important pages - Homepage and single generator: https://ibangenerator.wiki/ - IBAN Calculator: https://ibangenerator.wiki/iban-calculator/ - IBAN Checker: https://ibangenerator.wiki/iban-checker/ - IBAN Decoder: https://ibangenerator.wiki/iban-decoder/ - IBAN versus SWIFT/BIC: https://ibangenerator.wiki/iban-vs-swift/ - IBAN Examples: https://ibangenerator.wiki/iban-example/ - Test IBAN Data Guide: https://ibangenerator.wiki/iban-test-data/ - What Is an IBAN Number?: https://ibangenerator.wiki/what-is-iban-number/ - Bulk IBAN Generator: https://ibangenerator.wiki/bulk-iban-generator/ - Country directory: https://ibangenerator.wiki/countries/ - How to find an IBAN number: https://ibangenerator.wiki/how-to-find-iban-number/ - About: https://ibangenerator.wiki/about/ - Privacy Policy: https://ibangenerator.wiki/privacy-policy/ - Terms of Service: https://ibangenerator.wiki/terms-of-service/ Contact: support@ibangenerator.wiki
